Nureed Saeed has been a resident of South Orange since 2014, living in the Newstead Section of the village with her husband and 3 small children. An entrepreneur and successful small business owner, Ms. Saeed started her interior design company shortly after moving to South Orange. In addition to her design business, Nureed and her husband, Muzamil, are real estate investors, contributing to the community by buying and then rehabbing homes, improving their appearance and market value.
Prior to moving to South Orange,Nureed spent 15 years in the fashion and retail industry. Most recently she was a senior executive for Greg Norman, PGA Champion and golf legend, serving as Vice President of Licensing and Global Business Development. Nureed was responsible for retail store development, merchandising development, brand messaging, and contract negotiations in over 25 countries.
She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Philadelphia University’s School of Business in Fashion Merchandising and Business Management. Nureed was a mentor to young aspiring fashion and business students, both at Philadelphia University and through the prestigious YMA organization. She also served on Philadelphia University’s Kanbar College Advancement Council, a group of 35 alumni who were asked to serve by the Dean of Kanbar College based on their high level of professional achievement. The Council advises the college on the direction of programming and curriculum. Nureed was the first woman invited to join the Council, becoming not only its sole woman of color, but also its youngest member.
An active participant of the South Orange and Essex County community, she serves on the Newstead Association Board. She is a member of the Sisterhood of Salaam/Shalom, a group dedicated to building bridges and understanding between the Muslim and Jewish women’s communities. She is also a member of the SOMA Dems and SOMA Action grass roots groups, participating in multiple discussions with local leaders. Ms. Saeed recently participated in a round table discussion, regarding the Immigration and Muslim ban, with Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. of New Jersey. As a result of her participation, the Congressman quoted a portion of her statement on the floor of the House of Representatives. Nureed spoke at the SOMA Action Rally regarding Sanctuary City status for South Orange, her speech was later featured as an Op-Ed piece in the Village Green.
